Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease and other Non-Communicable Diseases: Time for an Integrated Approach

Non-Alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a broad term covering spectrum of conditions ranging from hepatic steatosis, steatohepatitis and cirrhosis. NAFLD highly prevalent across all regions the world with its global prevalence 25.2%(95%CI:22.1-28.7). It commonly referred as ‘hepatic manifestation’ metabolic syndrome (MetS). Moreover, it strongly associated individual components well MetS whole. has been independently other non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like chronic kidney (CKD), Polycystic ovary Syndrome (PCOS), Stroke Cancers. This strong association NCDs not only affects but also progression management disease. Thus, this review aims at highlighting NCDs. A literature search was undertaken in MEDLINE database using necessary MeSH terms. The concludes systemic disease, just confined to liver-specific morbidity mortality, numerous extra-hepatic manifestations, such syndrome, cardiovascular diseases, renal malignancy. With co-existence various expected become most overwhelming coming years. Hence, reduce medical economic impact these comorbidities, recommended that countries should estimate predict burden on comorbidities galvanize health resources providing integrated therapeutic approaches for related an early stage.
